Fear 101-Exodus 15:16

I know I know it has been way WAY to long hasn't it well, here we go and this time we are in Exodus.

FEAR and dread shall fall upon them; By the greatness of thine arm they shall be as still as stone; Till thy people pass over, O LORD, Till the people pass over, which thou hast purchased. Exodus 15:16
This is a verse out of the Song of Moses after the Israelites were saved from their bondage to the Egyptians. They had just crossed over the red Sea and saw a great miracle as they crossed dry land and they rejoiced and were talking of the fear of the Egyptians. Photobucket

Noah's Ark

This Dutch man built a replica of Noah's Ark!
Okay so I am going to go a little brainy on you today... This happenes every so often mostly due to the husband I have but I NEED to share this with you...especially if you are a believer!! Back when my husband was in Seminary he had the oppertunity to hear a man named Randall Price speak for a three day confrence on end time events. Well Dr. Price has had one of teh most amazing things happen...for a long time he has been researching Mt Ararat and Noah's Ark. Most of the unbelievers in our world say "if Noah did exist, and if the flood did happen, there is no chance the Ark could be still intact today. Well My comment to them is...you don't know the God I worship. He has the power to do all things and ORCASTRATE all things....and that is exactly what God has donefor Dr. Price and his unlikely team of HUNDREDS! You see Ararat is in one of the former Soviet Union countries. One that has been in war and turmoil for some time. Yet peace has come as both sides have granted him and his crew to do whatever they can to uncover the Ark. So how did all of this come to be...well I am not sure of the whole story BUT aI do know that it involves a man of this country who claims to have played in a huge man made structure when he was a boy...the problem....glaciers have moved into the area and the ark is now encapsulayes in Ice...Yet with the help of so many people some neat things have happened. the country has granted him permission to melt the ice and excavate the ark. How can they know for sure that this is the place? Wellthis is another incredible story---Via a satellite they were able to view THROUGH the ice a MASSIVE man made object that appears to be propped up at a diagonal. I am not one who jumps at these sorts of things. Normally because it is being done by someone who wants to disprove my faith BUT when hubby told me of this last night my heart leaped for joy and the next thing that came to mind was straight from the book of Esther "For such a time as this...." For such a time ias this God has chosen to show HIMSELF.....a capable God....a God who STILL performs Miracles And yes Virginia THIS IS A MIRACLE! Our country is in turmoiil. A nation once based in faith has no faith at alll. They are not even sure if pink is pink right now (I am referring to post-modern thought and the assult on truth!) And I know that there will be people who will shoot this down and say somehting isn't right....it had happened for THOUSANDS of years and yet, as believers it should make us stand a little taller nad and a little more proud and say yes even today MIRACLES STILL HAPPEN! Fear 101-Genesis 42:18

And Joseph said unto them the third day, This do, and live; for I FEAR God; Genesis 42:18
Hmm Joseph was a true man of God and he really did fear God. He knew he needed to take care of his family and by telling his brothers in this verse that he feared God was giving them a huge hint that they just didn't get! Photobucket

Wordless Wednesday-Dairy DayParade Float

After literally weeks of hard work it all came together quite nicely..What you don't know is that mountain cam crashing en route to the parade. You can't see it but my blue jeans are COVERED in white paint after morning touch ups! You also can't see three little cubbies ice fishing in a pond...and a real kind of working fore place. You couldn't have asked for a nicer day either! Photobucket

Fear 101

And Abraham said, because I thought,Surely the FEAR of God is not in this place;and they will slay me for my wife's sake. Genesis 20:11

At first glance we physically see FEAR once but the underlying motive of Abraham is Fear.  Plain and simple he didn't want to die! He FEARED the people's reaction to him...

Just one little thought though.
Did Abraham not FEAR Gos enough either?  He clearly didn't have a qualms about adultery or lying!

Fear 101

After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, 'FEAR not Abram; I am thy shield, and they exceeding great reward.
Well I must tell you that it is interesting the things that I have realized already....Abram was having a discussion with God and God starts off this discussion with "Fear Not" As a kid I was taught to fear God and yet...that was not WHOLLY correct I was taught to have fear and trembling so to speak....be on pins and needles. Not so. Not so at all. As long as you are obeying God's word (and I mean ALL of it) than you have NOTHING to fear. Maybe I am getting ahead of where I actually am. As long as you are where God wants you...you will be protected and rewarded. Not to say that everything is all hunky dory all the time. Don't forget we live in a fallen world and when you are surrounded by a world full of sinners sometimes we have to reap their consequences too. Unfait you might say well I find it much better than spending Eternity in hell ...How about you!?! Photobucket

Simple Woman's Daybook

For Today...July 6, 2009 Outside my window... Sunshine...Blessed sunshine I am thinking... a beautiful and PEACEFUL morning is so hard to come by these days. I am soaking up every minute of it! From the learning rooms... NOTHING! I am thankful for... a great husband who is growing in his walk...I am so thanful that he is NOT one of those men that thinks because he is a pastor he has it all figured out and that he has arrived From the kitchen... hopefully some yummy cookies, bread from the new bread machine and whatever i choose for dinner I am wearing... pinkie purple satiny PJ's hair back and bare feet! I am reading... Prayer by Philip Yancey, Disciplines of the Home by Anne Ortlund and A Beth Moore Bible Study...Along with various Bible passages having to do with fear... I am hoping... to accomplish a big surprise for hubby while he is away this morning I am creating... a cool surprise for hubby while he takes Tornado for some medical tests...It promises to be fun and I will have lady bugs help!!! I am praying... for Tornado's tests to be fine and for strength and courage for my hubby as he faces what seems like an impossible task...Shepherding a flock of sinners!...It's only impossible without God. And we have a great flock! Around the house... learning VBS tunes....Kitchen work. craft room is disrepair and various other sundry things! One of my favorite things... my garden as it grows....GRASS and all! A few plans for the rest of the week... Hmm I have learned as a pastor's wife..No plans make for an easier time when plans get changed....it doesn't mean I don't have A PLAN! Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you... Photobucket

My walk Monday -FEAR 101

MyWalkMonday2WeWalkwithHim2 Well here it goes after I Promised yesterday a verse by verse look at fear-It's amazing thatthe first mention of fear is right after the flood! It is found in Genesis 9:2 (note this will be in the KJV until I get a new ESV!) Genesis 9:2And the FEAR of you and the dread of you shall be on every beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moveth upon the earth, and upon all the fishes of the sea; into your hand are they delivered. Hmmm, I see a few things here.

  • Funny how we (humans) are the very first thing "feared" in the Bible. NOT GOD. Perhaps that is why the flood happened!
  • there was no mention of fear prior to this verse....even after the fall. Fear was not a result of the fall! (very interesting to me since we Christians leand ourselves to blaming all unpleasant thngs to the fall)
  • in verse three it refers to men eating meat...despite the fact men had been wearing furs for clothing since the fall
Okay so a few questions...
  • why after the flood and why not after the fall
  • what is the difference between killing an animal for clothing and killing an animal for food
  • Why hasn't the fear of God been mentioned to this point
Okay so do you have any thoughts i would love to hear them! Photobucket

Programmed to fear

Normally on Sundays I put up the Be Still Sundays badge or I just don't blog but I was convicted this morning as I sat in Church. (I love when that Happens because hubby is the PASTOR!) But I found myself squirming a little as he spoke about how our country is been and ill be in the future. But I have been programmed to become uncomfortable when things that are true are said yo start to FEAR what might happen. Somethings that have been threatened to churches in the past is that they might loose their tax free status. That is huge for a church because then a church becomes a business and most churches cannot afford those kinds of taxes. But then I began to think on a much smaller scale.... My home I have been programmed to fear what goes on in my home too. Such as the form of discipline that I choose to use with my children. The result: FEAR of loosing my children to a sometimes brutal system when in reality my home was WAY MORE LOVING! So here is what I am going to do about this fear! I have a plan. I am going to study fear in the Bible. I am going to use the concordance and EVERY day I am going to post one verse and we'll talk about it! So together we can learn what kind of role it SHOULD play in our every day lives and I hardly think it is the way i have been applying it! Just a few thoughts!Have a great Sunday! Photobucket

Thanksful Thursday-Wetness

If you did not read Tuesdays post thenyou don't know that we had a bit of a tragedy when we returned home from being a away for two weeks on vacation. We had a flood the last week we were gone. Not just a small flood eithr....Our automatic Ice maker in our freezer has a flexi tube that runs into the floor behind the fridge. Apparently due to Vibration it rubbed a hole right into the flexi tube and we had a CONSTANT stream of water for who knows how long. So there was an inch and a half of water in the kitchen and most of the water had run down through the floor/ basement ceilieng...Soaked the basement floor , bubbled brand new 4 month old paint on the walls, broke some drop tiles in the basement bathroon and the floor literally squished when you walked on it! Not to mention the musty smell that ad over taken the whole house! But through all of this I have fuound quite a few things to be thankful for: So here they are in no particular order
  • Hubby wasn't away by himself when it happened and I was left home alone to deal with all the mess
  • it wasn't a fire! What a tragedy that would have been to get a call or come home to no house or any of our stuff which leads me to..
  • we only lost one thing and we were trying to decided whether or not to get ride of it anyway!
  • It wasn't that wya for the two full weeks...we would have had serious mold problem and much much more work to do on the house
  • that the carpets are mostly dry now in the basement and all the wet in the ceiling has been removed
  • That it wasn't sewage in our basement...two pastors ago a problem with town sewer caused sewage to back up into the parsonage and well it wasn't pretty and the pastor's family had to vacate the house for a while since the smell was so bad!
  • No one was hurt
  • it's an easy fix
So what makes you thankful?
