Simple Devotions 4-28-09

For Today... Dear Lord, I bring you my shortcomings...frustrations abound...I have been getting frustrated at the drop of a hat..Why who knows...Probably because i could use and extra 24 hours in my day or lessen my expectations of myself..Either one is a shortcoming! I bring you my worship and praise... Thank you so much for helping Hubby and I to work our a better, workable schedule! Communication is key to helping a marriage grow! The beauty that surrounds me..Whether it's the flowers blooming and the sun shining or the rain falling and making music on my roof you have provided for us! I bring you my prayer... Lord help me "think Happy thoughts" To not think about frustrations and to help me work on my own beams! You spoke to me... In the peace of my morning devotions yesterday...And made me realize that my hunger for more in depth work with your word is what I need and want and I need to make the time even if it is waking up when it is yet dark...If I am not taking care of this then my household can't betaken care of..or at least the way it should be! I Once had a professor....

Who challenged us to write out the books of the Bible word for word. He was a sub for my Romans class..So that is where I started nearly eight years ago and I wish dearly that I could tell you that today I have transcribed more than I have but almost 4 years ago I had my first child and since that time I have not accomplished much in this area BUT I will say this I still keep at it and it is one of my favorite things to do ...I retain more ...it seems to sink in better! You have to think about each and every word as you push that pen to make one more mark! What a joy!! I will share with you the books I have completed Romans James Titus Ester and Proverbs is what i am currently working on! In My Bible Study i am also working on the Book of John and with each section that I study I write out that passage and to date I working on the section John 7 :1-36 If you have not ever tried this as a method of hiding God's word in your heart why don't you give it a shot...it's amazing what will stick!

What Kind of Idiot....

wouldn't think through what kind of impact this would have on a city that has had  the Biggest trauma since Pearl Harbor...

I can tell you who..Our President Barak Obama....Now Whether or not you voted for him or McCain or any other person for that matter I don't give a hoot. BUT there are things that you just don't do!  If you haven't seen the video or watched the news or read the newspaper than maybe it's about time you did.  Because Our illustrious president thought it was a great idea to have a surprise photo opportunity in NYC  on Monday..Not even Mayor Bloomberg was clued in  on it...and to say the least he was mad! he was quoted as saying

"The good news is it was nothing more than an inconsiderate, badly conceived and insensitive photo op with the taxpayers' money," Bloomberg said.

So what did this surprise photo oppertunity comprise of...Well a 747 from Pres Obama's own fleet and a US Fighter jet "chasing it Down" or at least so it seemed to those poor traumatized people on the ground!

So what was the response Numerous companies evacuated and HUNDREDS of 911 calls.  I have to admit if I were there I would have been one of those hundreds...So watch the viseo and watch as people who are scared out of their minds flee for hopeful safety...This among others things makes me truely wonder if those brains that so many people talk about our president  having isn't just a figmaent of their imaginations

So what do you think Write a comment and let me know!

Let me shout it from the Roof Tops Again so EVERY ONE knows...

I LOVE SPRING!!
So Why do I love spring so much?? Well I can think of lots of reasons and I could just tell you BUT I thought a picture look but be more fun and entertaining!!!!So lets get started!
Along about February we are seeing these guys "peeping" through the cellophane wrappers at the store....they are cute and Yummy -two great qualities all wrapped into one yummy treat
Along about the beginning of March these wonderful spring treats show up. You can only find them for about a months time-I think it's some of the best chocolate I have eevr had! and definitely my all time favorite!!
Then there's playing outside with the kids. I find they sleep better and they can scream and run and play and it doesn't hurt my ears
I Love waking up to birds singing-a sure sign of Spring
On Easter I LOVE having ham!!!
I Love to dye EASTER eggs with the kids-Family traditions are very important to me!
SUNSHINE-after a long winter of not seeing much of this I welcome lots of it!! I also Love the fact it's closer to eart and makes it warmer!!!!!!!
With sunshine comes FOWERS...i have two favorites Tulips and
LILACS!!
With growing of new flowers comes lots of GREEN-my favorite color
When it gets green I can Garden
When I garden I see NEW GROWTH
New Growth reminds me that my Savior died for my sins and did exactly what He said He will do..ROSE AGAIN-and I must say that Easter is my NEW favorite Holiday
HOWEVER THERE IS ONE THING--YES ONLY ONE THING I DON'T LIKE ABOUT SPRING------- MOSQUITOES!!!!

"Please Don't Get Offended"

You know it's funny how we as Christians get worried about what unsaved people think. This is so true that I found myself sitting in church last Sunday evening listening to my husband speaking about the crucifixion of Christ on the Cross when I noticed a woman I have never seen before with her young daughter--probably a tween ! Hubby's message was talking about rhe terribleness of all that Christ had to go through-His sacrice for us--afterall it was communion Sunday at our church! When I noticed that woman and her daughter sitting there I began to think to myself-"oh my I hope she is not offened, I hope she understands " I shocked myself I stopped and thought "no she should be shocked-she should be apalled and then she should be moved to accept that sacrifice that Jesus made for us" I have no idea who that woman was. I have no idea if I will ever see her or her daughter again! But I know that they heard the gospel as plain as day and that my hubby did an amazing job communicating the horrific sacrifice Christ was willing to make for us. I have no idea why I have gotten to trhat position of worrying aabout what unbelievers think of my faith but but from this point on I want those who are unbelievers to be uncomfortable, to be shocked and dismayed at the way Christ was treated and be open to let the Bible's truthes sink in. If you get offened that too bad because it's you who is not letting God work in your heart Not me. If I don't share my faith with you because I fear offending you then that is my fault! Photobucket

Passed Down From Generation to Generation-Pickled Eggs Recipe

Pickled Eggs I have a few nationalities running through my veins Two of which are very prevelant. My great grandmother was 100% Cherokee Indian. My moms moms mom..Now my mom's dad's family had a very uncommon German name for here in the U.S. Not to mentian other great Grandparents also had German background....With that comes some GRAT and NOT-SO-GREAT family recipes. Some German food I love and some I find just plain yucky-namely rotting Cabbage (commonly known as Saurkraut) I love m,y German heritage so much so I took three years of German at the Public school attended So I am going to share my family recipe for Pickled Eggs and I want to tell you it's not your common Pickled Egg recipe--NO SUGAR OR SWEET STUFF HERE! So lets get started
First you start off with those Brightly colored easter eggs you just hate to destry- Go ahead Crack um you'll make more next year! And if you save too long no one will want to go near them
Make sure you Take ALL the shells off and RINSE the eggs well..No one likes crunchy pickled eggs Then you'll put them in a BIG jar. I used almost 2 dozen eggs. I saved two out for Lady Bug and Tornado to crack and eat
Then I add 2 cans of sliced Beets--This is VERY Important--don NOT add Dill pickle Juice! Also do NOT drain the Beet juice off That is what is going to turn your eggs into the pretty pink/purple color
Next you are going to add apple cider vinegar until the contents are almost covered...Don't be afraid of adding too much-do not add water! At this point my mom would add salt HOWEVER we have found that you really don't need it!
Nest if you are using a metal lid place a plastic ziploc bag over the jar top and screw on the lid... If you don't the vinegar will rust your lid and you would be shocked at how quickly that will happen..Our family has one huge jar like this just for pickled eggs...They don't late very long despite the amopunt we fix
And finally put them in the fridge overnight and the next morning you will have these wonderful treats for breakfast!!
Ever since I was very young this has been a huge part of Easter and I am so thrilled to be able to pass it on to my family! As you can see they are a huge hit--yhry even like the beets!
As you can see they love them...Right down to the last bit

Wordless Wednesday & Tackle it Tuesday--All Wrapped into One Eastery Post!

HAPPY EASTER!!
And Guess what time it was in our Happy Home on Monday night?? That's right -Time to Dye the Easter Eggs-- and this year we had a VERY special Helper-- HUBBY!!! Yay!
We did three kinds of Eggs-Regular dyed eggs which we used crayons to draw on-Don't hubby's look amazing!
We also did a new kind of Egg that gives a marbled effect...All you need is equal portions of food coloring, White Vinegar, and Vegetable oil (about 1 tsp) to about a cup of water Swirl quickly with a spooon Dip in quickly and remove quickly
More of hubby's art work!
We also did a couple of eggs using rubber bands. Wrap the rubber bands around the eggs and dip into food coloring mixture..You can also do two colors by dying an egg one color then wrapping rubber bands around the eggs and dipping into another color
This was my favorite egg-a marbled agg in Pink--I love Easter!

Easter Traditions!

Really as I began to think Sunday night about all of the Easter traditions we hold "so dear" I began to wonder where exactly they came from so I did some investigating. and found basically the same thing. This website and it's article i think does the best job explaining it in the simplest of terms....I have a few teens who read my blog and thought they might be interested as well so with out further adieu..

How Did the Rabbit Bounce into Easter? As a kid growing up, it was never any problem for me to believe that the Easter Bunny was supposed to come at Easter, or for that matter, Santa Claus was supposed to come at Christmas. Moreover, as a somewhat normal child, I never questioned how or why the Easter Bunny played into a religious holiday. However, again, as a somewhat normal child, I refused to rock the boat. Or rather, should I say, rock the candy basket. Before the internet came into the picture, I was way too lazy to make any investigations on my own. Now as both a freelance writer and internet user, it took me just a matter of minutes to discover the answers of how the Easter Bunny and Easter Eggs fit into the big picture of Easter. I also discovered why Easter is never the same time each year. How the Date for Easter Is Determined First, the phase of the moon is what determines the traditional Jewish calendar. Therefore, when the Christians were trying to decide which day to set for Easter, they referred back to the traditional Jewish calendar to determine this. Easter will fall on the first Sunday after the full moon after the date of March 21st. March 21st is the vernal equinox, or simply put, it is the day that daylight and darkness are equal as the days start getting longer. If the full moon happens to appear on a Sunday, then Easter will be the following Sunday. How the Easter Bunny Fits As research goes, there is no religious reason why the rabbit came at Easter. Symbolically, the rabbit is a powerful symbol of fertility and new life. Thus, Easter was an excellent opportunity to bring in the symbolism of the rabbit. And of course, the Easter Bunny, like Santa Claus, is a favorite among the children. History of Easter Eggs The ancient Egyptians used to decorate Easter eggs and give them to others, as a means of showing friendship. In Mesopotamia, Christians exchanged decorated eggs, as a remembrance of the resurrection of Christ.
ARTICLE TAKEN FROM THE WEBSITE ASSOCIATED CONTENT Now in My finite mind why all Christmas long do I hear Christians whine and complain about how awful Santa Claus is and by Easter there is nothing...And in my opinion I guess I would rather be more protective over Easter than Christmas...Just a thought! Where Would I Be?

Last night as I Sat listening to my husband deliver his evening message at our church I had a series of blog posts stemming from what he was teaching our church. This week is the week that holds the most significance for Christians..even more than Christmas. So as i Sat there I had a list that came to mind and over the next week I will share my thoughts on Easter. So that being said let's get on with this post... Where would I be? Where would I be had my parents not been Christians? If they had not made sure That I was in church from a very young age? If I had not gotten saved at a young age? If I didn't have parents who stuck by their boundaries ? AND MOST OF ALL Where would I Be If Christ Hadn't died on the cross for ME!!??!! The thing Is I know the answer to the last question..all the rest of the question are just circumstantial and God could still get a hold of my life. However If Christ had not died on the cross for me I would go to Hell...Yes hell..no questions asked. Nothing could fix the sins that are in my live except for that sacrificial love of a perfect..PERFECT sacrifice! So without Christ HELL is where I would be!!!! Photobucket

AWANA GRAND PRIX CAR....CAR'S STYLE

This is how it starts...Just one block of wood
Now note that you are NOT allowed to add wood to the block of wood..However being that tornado is only a Cubbie and is not judged like the other clubs we decided that we would make the kids Cubbies cars something special for them..Tornado requested Tow Mater..and Tow mater he recieved. Note the mouth. If you are a friend on facebook you will remember that hubby had to get 7 stitches...well the mouth would be the culprit being all hand carved
Next came the painting and As you know tow Mater takes A LOT of brown paint so Tornado and Ladybug had a great time painting the car
TA DA!! And thhe finished product!!!! Didn't hubby do a fantastic job... Minus the stitched finger
here is Tow mater towing none other than TOW MATER!
This little match box car was our inspiration We studied this thing and make it almost exactly the same...Just Bigger
Right down to the engine and the smudge marks on Tow Mater's front!!!
It was a lot of fun..We were all involved and we are so happy to say that Tornado won his two races he won..Though I must say he was slightly heavier!
